Tri-Cities Elks Lodge observed Patriot Day (9/11), the 9th anniversay of the attack on the WTC and the Pentagon. About 60+ attended, Elks, friends, guests and members of American Legion, CBVC and Iraq/Afghanistan service veterans.
Idaho Falls lodge held an outdoor Flag Day ceremony. They included the lodge sponsored Boy Scout Troop.

For Memorial Day today, the Elks Officers of Long Beach Lodge #1937 in collaboration with VFW and American Legion participated in Memorial Services to honor the men and women who serviced our country. We held services at cemeteries starting in Oysterville, ending with the Ilwaco Cemetery. Afterwards, the Elks hosted a lunch for the Elks, VFW, and American Legion. Palmer Lodge #1842 held a Flag Day Ceremony at Iditapark in Wasilla, Alaska in conjunction with the City of Wasilla. Mayor Verne Rupright read a proclamation. Exalted Ruler Cindy Vasanoja Corey conducted the ceremony and had participation from Don Erbey, Marilyn "Sis" Grasser, Tracy Yates, Greg Moscibrocki (PER), Kathi Johns (PER), Denis Vamvoras. Tracy Yates recited "Ragged Old Flag" and "Battle of the Flag". Boy Scout Troop #54 conducted the parade of flags.
June 11th held a Hero's Day with a flag ceremony. Nampa Police Honor Guards Officer Davenport & Officer Koho also participated. We served hot dogs & hamburgers to several Veterans, Nampa Police, Fire, Rescue and their families. A big Thank You to all who supported our 1st Hero's Day!!!!
Lodge held its annual Student Awards Dinner and treated a total of 75 people to a meal. Among the attendees were recipients of lodge scholarships and winners of the lodge's Americanism Essay Contest, Hoop Shoot, and Eye Safety Contest.
Led by our Elks National Veterans Service Commission, the Order has long enjoyed a rewarding relationship with our Nation’s Veterans. Since 1946, our promise to all our Veterans and their families has been and continues to be “So long as there are Veterans, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks will never forget them.” We have faithfully kept this promise and continue to do so.
The youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow. Our young people are subjected to many influences, some of which are negative and unwholesome. An important contribution to communities is to provide positive experiences for our youth.

The Order of Elks was founded to provide community service by each Lodge and to help those less fortunate in time of need. Community service is what Elkdom is all about. As Elks, we are expected to be faithful servants to the communities in which we reside. Our civic duty is to support our communities and provide assistance whenever needed.
