The Elks Retirement Home, often referred to as the "Crown Jewel of Elkdom," is located in the picturesque Blue Ridge Mountains of Bedford, Virginia, and is a retirement community for Elks Members, both male and female, as well as married couples and singles. The "Home," as it is affectionately known, has often been described as the "Best Kept Secret" in Elkdom.

"Great Heart of Elkdom," is a permanent trust fund established in 1928 by an original contribution of $100,000.00 to further the benevolent, charitable and educational programs of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the United States of America. Through the continued generosity of our Members, their families and friends, the permanent trust fund has grown significantly and the earnings are earmarked for distribution as determined by the Trustees of ENF.

The Order of Elks was founded to provide community service by each Lodge and to help those less fortunate in time of need. Community service is what Elkdom is all about. As Elks, we are expected to be faithful servants to the communities in which we reside. Our civic duty is to support our communities and provide
assistance whenever needed.

The family has long been the cornerstone of American society, evidenced by the nation’s two most popular holidays, Thanksgiving and Christmas. They are observed throughout the land by family gatherings and celebrations.
